For Harp O'Fly (and everyone else)...

...a recommendation based on his comment in the previous entry.

Go here and download AVG antivirus. It's free, as are the updates, and is very effective!

I also suggest going here to get AdAware SE, a free spyware remover. Also very good.

The source of the "trojan horse" that blitzed my ex-computer was a program I was given by a "friend" who swore up and down that it had been checked and was clean. I didn't scan it with AVG before I opened it.

Yeah, I'm a dummy.

Hi MrScribbler, I have both Avenge free personal, and the AdAware when I got my new/old computer last summer. It's been working great. *hugss* from Sunny

I have Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy, a-squared, and Microsoft Anti-Spyware, along with Zone Alarm. I am also behind a router. All of this did not prevent the laptop from getting a trojan, but I was able to remove it.

I have not used any antivirus programs since the trial ran out on the laptop a year and a half ago, and not before then.

I hope I don't get a fnqji

I wonder if that's the trouble with Norman that I'm having. He's hanging in, but he's not a healthy PC by any means.

Ms Draggs -- try downloading these goodies and letting them work on Norman...after that, he might be a new 'puter!

Worth a try, anyway.
