An interesting bit of trivia...

...relating to one of the sunset photos I posted below:

You might have noticed a small speck in the air in the harbor-side photo. I did, and today I may have found out what the helicopter (circled), a couple of fireboats and a tug were doing in the channel.

Apparently, they were there to greet the nuclear submarine USS Los Angeles, which is making its first appearance in its namesake port in years.

The sub itself seems not to be anywhere in the photo, alas....

I remember as a teenager I would take my girlfriend to White Rock Lake to watch the submarine races. This was long before the USS Los Angeles, of course. *wink, wink*

Never did find out which submarine "won" the races....
