...the U.S.A. is going down the toilet.
Bush did not, of course, pardon the two Border Patrol agents, Jose Compian and Ignacio Ramos after he ordered them racked up for doing their job. After all, in his headlong rush to appease Mexico's corrupt regime and the corrupt business and political powers on this side of the border, he concluded that it was far better to let them rot in jail than punish a poor drug-runner who had the bad luck to enter the country illegally with a stash of drugs in Compian and Ramos's area.
But it came to light this last week that a Bush directive to ensure that Mexicans, including illegals, will get full Social Security benefits from us was signed back in 2004. Never mind that a system already tottering on the brink of insolvency will, according to many experts, be pushed over the edge totally by the illegals' unearned largess when this order takes effect.
Of course Bush made a big display of sending National Guard troops to the border to show us how "tough on immigration" he is. Except that the troops were not to carry weapons and were there to assist the short-handed Border Patrol forces in menial ways.
PARENTHETICAL THOUGHT: The Border Patrol is, thanks to Bush, short two dedicated agents. And many more are reportedly demoralized by the treatment they are receiving, and the treatment some now fear they will receive if they dare to do their jobs.
And then this story appeared last week in an Arizona newspaper: A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.
According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.
The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.
The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area.
The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.
If our government was honest -- unlikely, to say the least -- it would recognize that this was an invasion by hostile forces, which should have been repulsed by force. Hostile forces based on lands belonging to our "neighbor," Mexico. This rises close to the level of an act of war.
Did Bush react? Of course not. He was too busy plotting his next pointless move in Iraq -- which will certainly cost us more American lives and dollars -- and encouraging the cancellation of those few border-control measures, pathetic as they were, approved by Congress last year.
Did Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed rise in Congress to demand that we protect America's borders and citizens? They did not. They are too busy plotting their next moves in the sick game of politics. Including, let us not forget, "comprehensive" immigration reform, which will simply allow invaders easy entry, taxpayer-supported welfare services and improved access to jobs stolen from American citizens and legal residents.
Not a damn one of these political hacks seems to remember that they took oaths, swearing to "uphold the laws of the United States" and protect our citizens "from all enemies, foreign and domestic."
They are the domestic enemy against whom we need protection.
In less than two weeks, Compian and Ramos will be locked away for many years. The illegal alien drug-smuggler is free to continue his criminal ways, happy, and soon to be wealthy, thanks to U.S. taxpayers.
Just as bad, Bush, Pelosi, Reed, and hundreds of other amnesty advocates in our government are free to continue their criminal ways.
The wrong people are going to jail. And we, their victims, are the ones who will be paying for their reprehensible deeds.

I saw this story, and it made no sense to me. I also marveled at how it got so little play in the mainstream media.
It's a known drug corridor, which to me means it should be policed aggressively.
I also note with some amusement that US Citizens are now required to have a passport to get back into the country from Mexico.
The troops are not allowed to carry weapons? What kind of sense does that make!?
We need protection from the borders, and stop the smuggling...human or anything else.
Peace to you on this Sunday, MrScribbler. {{hugs}}
The system is broken/corrupt. Employers wanting cheap labor are pulling the strings via their PACs. Our politicians (of both parties) are crooks, and since all reform will have to come through them, THERE WILL BE NO REFORM. We're in a steep downhill spiral, and I'm not sure we have the intestinal fortitude as a country to stop it.
Did you just say illegal immigrants will get full Social Security benefits? Did you just say we cannot and will not even protect our own borders because we love cheap labor so much? OH DEAR GOD something else to be totally pissed off about!!!! More F&^%$#@ Idiots!!!!!
