Another day...

...on the voyage into irrelevancy.

For the first time in recent memory, I have not actually spoken directly to a human being for a period of 24 hours. I talked to voice-mail recorders, leaving messages that, while important to me, did not move anyone to actually return my calls.

I sent email messages, too, with the same result for each.

The world seems to have gotten along perfectly well without me today.

That's not exactly what I would call encouraging news.

Hey! I did'nt get a voice mail message from you! (and I would have returned it)

I absolutely love the quietness of this beautiful photo you took.

It looks like I felt, last evening in my 'blanked out' mode. I was so still. Just in shock.

Take it from me, Matt...you don't.

Very cool pic.

I guess there's a difference between silence and the absence of noise, at least in terms of intent.

What's worse...that, or people calling all day chewing on your butt?

Going without human contact for awhile, like much else, is what you make it.

l&s -- I'd say that depends on their motive and desired result for "chewing."

anon -- I've had too much experience of no human contact, and not entirely because I wished it so.

I love the photo also. It's very peaceful. When my phone rings I always know it's either Paula or Paul. The two who check on me all day long. :)

Oh Scribbs, it was just a day! ;) I love days like that. My idea of a great day is hanging out on the computer or playing video games in the quiet as I do my chores off and on and nap in the afternoon in PEACE. It doesn't happen all the time though, so I enjoy it when I can get it. Course, it's nice to do other stuff, but what you're describing sounds pretty good to me! ((((hugs))))

Hey - you communicated with us online. That's something. Tomorrow is a new day, Scribs.

That describes my typical day---no human contact, no influence exerted over much of anything. Screw the world. We don't owe it, and if it owes us, it didn't get that memo.
Rebel Scrib, Your involvement in the world is its gain, and don't dare forget it or argue with me on this.

I, on the other hand, sometimes have human contact when I don't want any. Like at 6 AM at work. I am not nearly as personable as my supervisor is at that time.

I don't think a day has ever passed in my life that I didn't talk to someone. It is possible, I suppose, because of having a wife and kids. I have had days where I was nearly mute :-)

I wonder what it would be like to cocoon for a weekend and not even answer the phone.

DAL: It can be tempting, but I don't recommend it. Weekends turn into weeks and it is trouble.
