Pet show!

Damn, I love the Brits!

According to this story in The Daily Mail, a young couple were banned from taking a transit bus because the guy dresses goth and leads his girlfriend around on a leash.

The music technology student had this defence of her lifestyle.

"I am a pet, I generally act animal like and I lead a really easy life," she said.

"I don't cook or clean and I don't go anywhere without Dani. It might seem strange but it makes us both happy. It's my culture and my choice. It isn't hurting anyone."

The bus driver clearly didn't agree. He has repeatedly refused to allow Mr Graves, 25, and his "pet" on to his bus in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

Last month, with Miss Maltby on a leash as usual, the couple tried to board a bus at the bus station.

The driver, who was off duty, was standing near the door.

Mr Graves alleged: "He shoved me off the bus. He called us freaks and he called Tasha a dog.

"He said, 'We don't let freaks and dogs like you on'.

Of course there is one little sting-in-the-tail within this story: The couple, who live on benefits in a council house and plan to start a family, have been friends for years.

Maybe if he had to work, Mr Graves would let his pet off her leash. And maybe she, too, could find employment so UK taxpayers don't have to support her.

In a pet store, maybe?

Some thing about all of this makes me laugh. I wonder if she poops on his carpets when in a bad mood.

I read the rest of the story and many of the comments, and the majority think the bus driver was out of line, and some say he should be sacked. Whether they work or not is not part of the equation, Scribbs.

The bus driver has an obvious problem.

dal -- Since the bus driver apparently hasn't spoken, we don't know whether the couple was merely boarding the bus or copping an attitude.

Moreover, their no-work status does play into it in my opinion. They are in essence being paid to live as they please, which is just plain wrong. It's difficult for me to gin up sympathy for people like that.

When you want to be "different," it's good to be able to afford it on your won.

I've seen a few couples like this around San Diego, usually in the poorly named Normal Heights district. Maybe it's just me, but I always think that in 20 years or so they'll look back and wonder what the heck they were doing. Reminds me of that old joke...
Old man and a punk with wildly colored hair were waiting for a bus. The punk says " What you looking at, Old man? Never seen hair like mine??"
The old man takes another look and replies, "I had sex with a parrot in my stupid younger days, and I'm wondering if you could be my son"

Hope your day is going well

Very interesting. People just don't seem to understand this nature. Sad really. I think I'll have them over for lunch.

Kashew -- I like that one!

Anon -- Shouldn't ask, but what are you serving? Mighty Dog? Alpo?

They sound like poster children for what half the politicos are pushing here.

Reaction is often part of the game. If people ignore those things rather than make a deal of it no one gets hurt. I wouldn't worry what the driver did though. I've seen people try to play the lifestyle thing when they were way over the line being offensive and disruptive.
