Yet another car show...

...which a well-meaning but over-enthusiastic friend conned me into attending.

This show is informal, held every Saturday (which is about 50 times a year too often for my taste), and generally lasts from about 7:00 to 10:00. In the morning; that's just insane, in my book.

Nonetheless, in between the shiny new Ferraris and Lamborghinis owned by poseurs from Orange County with blow-dried hair and silk "racing" jackets, there were some cars I actually liked. A few I wouldn't even mind owning.

Take this real BMC Mini, for example, one of several that showed up...

The park-where-you-can nature of the event makes for strange matchups, such as this Ferrari stuck next to a Jeepster and a classic Chevy....

The 3.0 CSL coupe is my favorite BMW of all time...

Of course there were a few cars one seldom sees on the road for a variety of reasons. Fans of the Triumph TR8 are as rare as California Condors....

I dug this '52 VW. It reminded me of a '54 I owned for a tragically brief period. Like mine, this one has the rare "hubcap" tool kit set into the spare wheel...

Lots of neat examples of American iron were on display, too. Or, in this case, iron and wood...

There were motorcycles, too. Despite the looks, this one is new. It's a Russian-made copy of a World War II-era BMW, complete with sidecar...

An unwritten rule is that all cars come to the show under their own power, not on trailers. This 1956 Jaguar D-Type race car was no exception...

All in all, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It was even worth missing breakfast for. Wouldn't go every Saturday, though....

I wish we had such Saturday shows around here. We have some, of course, but they are rather bland compared to what you showed here. You California types get all the good stuff! PS...I checked out the Audi A3 today. Love it! :) Can't buy one now. :(
