A long, long, long day...

...that began with me Doing My Civic Duty (an exercise in futility) in the voting booth. After that, a 250-mile round trip to gather research for an article.

The southbound trip took a mere two hours; the return trip took just over four hours.

To keep this miserable drive -- and I hesitate to use that word; "crawl" would be more accurate -- from being a total loss, I thought I'd take all y'all on a scenic tour as the sun sank slowly in the west.

First, the lovely Los Angeles River at dusk, countless acres of untamed concrete....

A look at our lovely, lovely traffic...

And sunset, as seen from that wonderful destination spot, Compton, California...

Almost home! Only 20 minutes (five miles) to go...

Despite the disappearance of summer, it was a balmy night here, warmer at zero miles per hour when surrounded by giant trucks...

I'm glad to be home, even though nothing has improved on this long, long day.

Sounds like a very miserable trip. Glad you're back home safe and sound. :)

Stupid box . . .
I didn't write my question that way and I'm not sure I can pass another comment test. I failed the last two times I tried to comment and I'm sure it's not your fault. It Has to be mine. Stupid box. I spell it the way I comprehend it, you know, the ol visual type the crap as you see it and hope it's right thing . . .
How bout that! I only have five somethings to try and figure out this time!
Wish me luck!

Anne -- I took the picture of the dashboard (and thermometer) while at a dead stop in traffic. Since this car is a diesel, it has a very low idle speed.

I, on the other hand, do not have a low idle speed.

And I, too, sometimes fail the "verification" test. I'm glad you have persevered!

One thing I don't miss about Miami, and what keeps me from moving back---traffic

Hi, am glad you are here.
And there.
(Like me.)

A long trip, yes, but it's a lovely area!
Now, to the word verification! Ugh!

Good night shots. Nice wheels, judging by the hood paraphenalia.
