Mebbe so, Laura. We have a Venice here of course (about 35 miles away) that used to be ghetto-y until the big bucks flowed in. Now it's full of yuppies....

If the denizens of the Italian Venice consider their burg a "ghetto," they surely pronounce the word differently. We say "ghet-TO" here....

Some people put such effort into decorating. It's lovely. I used to fly flags but they were such tempting sport for drunken college kids. They would leap up and grab the corner of the flag snapping the flag pole. I kinda lost the spirit to bother.
