Not everything in my "toy" collection is a toy by definition.
I have three or four containers for food items -- specifically ice cream -- that I have carted around with me for many years, and here are two.
First up, a box for Bing Crosby Ice Cream. I've talked to a number of people -- including several who were among Bing's friends -- and none recall ever seeing this product, but here's proof. On the back is Bing's "personal guarantee of quality," though I doubt it would have done much good to get in touch with him to complain...
And then there's this gem from the mid-1950s, a take-home package of Foster's Ol' Fashion Freeze. This was (and may still be if you can find one of the "Neat Blue and White Stores" mentioned on the package) the tastiest ice cream in the universe. Vanilla only, but in taste and texture, it was unique, and I want a cone-full (with chocolate dip) right now...
I shouldn't have started this. I'm feeling the urge to go out and scout out some shelves so all the goodies can go on display. Even if I'm the only one who will see them in person....

do you realise how much that "stuff" might be worth?? you should really try to get it priced!!
collecting "junk" CAN become profitable heehee
Birdie -- Years ago, when the collection was much smaller, my ex said the same thing. But I wouldn't sell any of these things. They have some kind of strange meaning for me.
I agree with birdie. You might be sitting on a fortune!! My aunt goes out and buys antiques and sometimes makes a lot of money. Even if you don't want to sell it you should have someone price it just to know. :)
it's been a while....hasn't it!:)
can't wait to see some more treasures from the past...

I'm like you, Scrib. I hang onto some things for no other reason than they are special to me. I can't explain why, but they are.
I think you should get all your "toys" out of storage and put them on display. Very neat and unique toys you have there!
If Bing said it was good then it must have been good. You did say you already ate the ice cream, right? If not, those would be worth more I think.
John -- the Bing box was empty when I got it. After so many years, probably just as well.
mmm...shouldn't have read your blog Scribby...I'm soooo hungry and that didn't help! :o)
I never heard of Bing Crosby ice cream either, but it must have been good! Cool collection, Scrib!
Not many people looked at my stuff when they did come over, Scribbs, so go for it.
It's a curse to mix up wine with milk products. One gets better with age. Which one was that?
dal---Given the chance most will filter through everything clandestinely or openly. At least that is what I remember. So few pay the price of admission, my memory could be off on that.
