They're just cars...

...and British cars, to boot!

But I happen to like British cars. I spent more than 40 years riding in -- and driving, and repairing -- Brit machinery, and that gets in the blood.

It's just the owners who can be deeply weird....

Since I had no real order in mind, I'll start with the random cars. First, since Scott signaled a desire to see the pix, here's a real Aston Martin, a lovely DB4, for him...

And it's just as elegant inside...

I thought the last Triumph TR8 had long since been returned to the rust from whence it came, but here's one someone has actually restored...

For my friends in the Antipodes, here's a vintage Morris Eight, which served (no doubt reliably) for more than 40 years as a delivery van for the Empire Bakery in Auckland, NZ...

Finally, to end the first lot of photos with real class, a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith...

More anon.

I've always wanted to drive in a Roll's Royce. All boob, no back.

Why did I just put an apostrophe for ROlls? I am so ashamed. Somebody smack me.

Anon -- We won't tell anyone. You still might get that ride in a Roller...I think you've earned it.

I can't say I'd want an RR, but I would like a TR8, with the bumper sticker "All parts falling off this car are of the finest British workmanship".

OMG...I'm speechless. How incredible was that. That DB4 is amazing! I've only seen them in photos. Thanks, friend, for making my day. :)

After we got married, we had exactly enough nickels left over to purchase a BRG 1977 Triumph TR7... So... It was 12-13 years old at the time. We commuted a half hour each way in that car daily for a time. Ha. In the winter, I had a traffic light on a downhill... I would have to keep feet on ALL the pedals to keep it going. It was like trying to steer an elephant, when it was that cold. We drove everywhere with a tool box in the trunk. And yet, when I visited the antique-y, interesting foreign car lot and found a mint condition ORANGE Triumph TR7, I really tried hard to convince John we "needed" it... He wasn't convinced! The day we went to pick up our first puppy, "someone" had left the sunroof open in our so-called "real" car (another long story) -- a bought-new lemon of a Mazda 323 GT... So instead, we took the Triumph on a six-hour round trip to the north country to collect our new fluffy baby girl... She came home sleeping on the ledge behind the seats -- why she wasn't terrified of the noise, I'll never know.
