I don't like to write about my work...

...and I intend to be completely cryptic about it here.

Suffice it to say that, in the course of what I do, a very nice guy was persuaded to bring these two toys out for me to play with today...

Between them, the red Messerschmitt and yellow BMW Isetta sported seven wheels, two cylinders, less horsepower than an original VW Beetle, and were capable of holding four people who don't mind being, shall we say, close to each other.

The Messerschmitt was terrifying at first, and hot as hell inside that plastic bubble. By comparison, the Isetta felt like a Real Car.

This was the strangest thing I have ever done for work. And believe me when I say I've done some weird stuff.

I must have looked like a circus bear riding a tricycle. If photographer D.'s photos of me doing my stuff are sufficiently embarrassing, I might even post one.

Just don't ask me why I was puttering around in these two minuscule beasts. To tell the truth, I'm not sure myself.

But it was non-stop laughs....

You must have heard about the parking lot attendant who pulled an Isetta up close to a wall and then couldn't find reverse. He was still in it hours later when the owner returned.

fin -- Hadn't heard that one, but I do know that to reverse the Messerschmitt, you have to turn off the engine and restart it in reverse rotation....

I think I'd prefer the Isetta over the Messerschmitt, the M is just too funky.

I'm not at all familiar with the Messerschmitt. I remember as a kid we had a neighbor who had an Isetta and I didn't know what to think of it. Was it a REAL car, a circus car, or what? Now, I'd LOVE to own one. Interesting how our tastes, and interests, change as we age. VERY cool cars.

Hey the Messerschmidt is like the one John Cleese drove in Brazil!!! That's the car I was searching for as plan B tourmobile.
You lucky guy. You better post some photos.
That had to be a blast.

coyote -- This little beast bites, too...and I have a bandaged finger to prove it.

johnO -- You should talk to the guy who owns this one. He has two others. Just enough room for you and your laptop. If it's a small laptop.

Haven't seen the photog's pics yet. Some ought to be good.

The red one looks like it has a face! LOL

I think those cars are cute. But then again, I don't know too much about cars.

I have to show these cars to Nicholas. That yellow one looks like Luigi on the Cars Movie.
