...at the request of a friend who likes car photos.
Last Saturday, I happened to see these cars, each among the Top Ten in my list of contenders to park in the Dream Garage.
Each one is a work of art -- to me, anyway -- and each (or cars just like them) is an absolute joy to drive.
First, a 1930 Alfa-Romeo 6C 1750 roadster, the epitome of the Italian Sports Car.
Next, a 1927 4 1/2-litre Bentley. I'd rather own a 3-litre, but the 4 1/2s are great old beasts. I liked the owner, too; like most of the Vintage Bentley owners I've met, he'd much rather drive the car than display it. In fact, he's driving it to Washington State next month...
Finally, two Austin-Healey "100s." I once owned one of these beauties; not a day goes by that I don't kick myself for letting it go....
Sorry there aren't more to show, but I tire quickly of modern Ferraris, Maseratis and the like. As an acquaintance of mine once said, "if you want a car with automatic transmission and air-conditioning, why not buy a Buick? If you want to drive a sports car, the old ones are best...."

Neat cars. :) I like the red one.
I like the silvery-blue one :)
You owned one of those little sweeties? Lucky you.
I looked up these cars...
looks like the Alfa Romeo has a double spare... now that I could deal with...
It looks like a right side steering wheel with a center stick...plenty of room for rocks!
:)
The Healy 100's are gorgeous...I looked up a 1953, in honor of me...
who knew I would find a whole new hobby!
But the Bentley has a stand alone kind of pre-Batman look...
Anon -- Both the Alfa and Bentley are right-drive...the Bentley has the shift lever on the right, where it rubs on the driver's knee....
1953 was the first year for the Healey "100;" the best were the last ones, built in '56.
When I get another one -- and I will -- it'll be Ice Blue like the car in the photo.
I wouldn't turn any of 'em down, but if it were my money I'd drive the Alfa.
going to take a look at 56's,
silver blue is nice...the one I looked at was black
Ver cool Scribbs....

To have owned an Austin-Healey, in CA back when it was sort of a state, had to be a good thing.
I like car pictures too, ya know... AND I like all your CAT pictures! The Austin's are very nice!
I perused the autos online...I like the (what I think is called) louvered hood...do you?
Just looked up peruse...maybe I skimmed....
:)
I LOVE the Austin Healeys!
