Thank you for this post. It brought a tear to my eye. Our first cat was a tourtise-shell, and she was devoted to us. I still miss her. P.S. She's definitely guarding the mailbox. Our tourtise-shell attacked a dog that came into the front yard when I was clipping the front hedge.
I'm sorry to screw up your theory, but I am reporting that I have known at least one male tortoise-shell colored cat. -(nullmuse)
